BizJournal: Finally! Sam Jones BBQ opens in Raleigh
For barbecue lovers in Raleigh and the rest of the Triangle, the long wait for pitmaster Sam Jones to open his local restaurant is finally over.
Jones, a former James Beard semifinalist, will officially bring his whole-hog style barbecue to Raleigh when its dining room opens on Tuesday. Jones debuted his second Sam Jones BBQ, located at 502 Lenoir St. near Boylan Heights, for carryout orders last month after years of planning – the project was first announced in late 2018.
The menu features traditional wood-fired meat from a whole hog cooked in a detached smokehouse, a staple in Jones’s restaurants and what he calls the “the essence of Eastern of North Carolina barbecue.”
The Raleigh location will also offer a full bar with a selection of craft beers from across the region.
